Comparison between power frequency furnace and induction furnace

The induction furnace with power frequency in the range of 150-10000 Hz is called medium frequency induction furnace, and its main frequency is in the range of 150-2500 Hz. The power frequency of domestic small frequency induction furnace is 150, 1000 and 2500 Hz.

Medium frequency induction furnace is a special equipment for smelting high quality steel and alloy

Compared with induction furnace, it has the following advantages:

1) The melting speed is fast and the production efficiency is high. The power density of medium frequency induction furnace is high, and the power configuration per ton of liquid steel is about 20-30% higher than that of power frequency induction furnace. Therefore, under the same conditions, the melting speed of medium frequency induction furnace is fast and the production efficiency is high.

2) Strong adaptability and flexible use. It is convenient to change the steel grade because the liquid steel in each furnace of medium frequency smelting furnace can be completely discharged, while the liquid steel in each furnace of power frequency induction furnace is not allowed to be discharged completely, so a part of liquid steel must be reserved for next furnace start-up, so it is inconvenient to change the steel grade, which is only suitable for smelting single steel.

3) The effect of electromagnetic stirring is better. Because the electromagnetic force of liquid steel is inversely proportional to the square root of power frequency, the stirring force of medium frequency power supply is smaller than that of power frequency power supply. For the removal of impurities in steel and uniform chemical composition, uniform temperature, the stirring effect of medium frequency power supply is better. The excessive stirring force of power frequency power increases the scouring force of molten steel on furnace lining

It will not only reduce the refining effect, but also reduce the crucible life.

4) It is easy to start. Since the skin effect of medium frequency current is much greater than that of power frequency current, there is no special requirement for the charge of medium frequency induction furnace when it is started, and it can be heated quickly after charging; while the power frequency induction furnace requires a specially made starting block (cast steel or cast iron block with the size similar to the crucible and about half of the height of the crucible) to start heating, and the heating speed is very slow. Read this, under the condition of periodic operation, most use medium frequency induction furnace. Another advantage of easy starting is that it can save electricity during periodic operation.

Because of the above advantages, the medium frequency electric furnace is not only widely used in the production of steel and alloy in recent years, but also in the production of cast iron, especially in the foundry workshop with periodic operation.

Matching equipment of medium frequency induction furnace

The complete equipment of medium frequency induction furnace includes: power supply and electrical control part, furnace body part, transmission device and water cooling system.

Power frequency induction furnace

Power frequency induction furnace is an induction furnace with industrial frequency current (50 or 60 Hz) as power supply. Power frequency induction furnace has developed into a widely used smelting equipment. It is mainly used as melting furnace for smelting gray cast iron, malleable cast iron, ductile iron and alloy cast iron. In addition, it is also used as holding furnace. Compared with cupola, power frequency induction furnace has replaced blast furnace as the main equipment in casting production. It has many advantages, such as easy control of hot metal composition and temperature, low amount of gas and inclusion in casting, no pollution to environment, energy saving and improved working conditions. Therefore, the power frequency induction furnace has been developed rapidly in recent years.

Power frequency induction furnace equipment includes four parts.

1. Furnace body

The furnace body of the induction furnace for smelting cast iron is composed of two induction furnaces (one for smelting and the other for standby), furnace cover, furnace frame, tilting cylinder, movable opening and closing device of furnace cover, etc.

2. Electrical part

The electrical part consists of power transformer, main contactor, balance reactor, balance capacitor, compensation capacitor and electrical console.

3. Water cooling system

The cooling water system includes capacitor cooling, inductor cooling and soft cable cooling. The cooling water system is composed of water pump, circulating pool or cooling tower and pipeline valve.

4. Hydraulic system

The hydraulic system includes oil tank, oil pump, oil pump motor, pipeline and valve of hydraulic system, hydraulic console, etc.
