Development characteristics of induction smelting furnace steelmaking industry

After a long period of development and selection, there are two technological processes in the world's iron and steel industry: the short process centered on scrap electric furnace steelmaking, and the long process centered on blast furnace oxygen converter steelmaking.

The characteristics of modern EAF or induction furnace steelmaking are as follows:

(1) The production rhythm of EAF is converter;

(2) The solidification process of steel is continuous;

(3) On line secondary refining of steel;

(4) Professional serialization of products based on continuous rolling;

(5) Sustainable development.

The characteristics of modern electric arc furnace or induction furnace steelmaking are determined by the technical characteristics. It has the following five characteristics

(1) There are three kinds of energy, in addition to the traditional electric energy, there are chemical energy and physical energy.

(2) The smelting process is mainly melting and oxidation process, which cancels the reduction period of traditional EAF steelmaking.

(3) In addition to scrap, 30-40% pig iron or DRI / HBI are the main raw materials.

(4) The main product is continuous casting billet, the traditional EAF steelmaking product is ingot.

(5) From the end of pollution control to the source of governance, green manufacturing is realized.

Current situation of EAF steelmaking in China

Since the advent of EAF steelmaking, it has shown a growing momentum of development, accounting for more than 31% of the world's total steel output so far, and has maintained a rising trend. The rising speed in developed countries is relatively fast. In recent years, the output of EAF steel in China is also rising, which has doubled since 2000. However, the proportion of EAF steel is declining because the growth rate of EAF steel is far lower than that of converter steel. Before 1995, the proportion of EAF steel remained at about 20%, but most of the furnace shapes were small and mainly mold casting. After 1996, under the guidance and support of the relevant departments, a large number of modern EAF have been put into operation and reached the production capacity. The development of EAF has entered a new historical period, but the proportion of EAF steel has been around 16%. After 2004, the proportion of EAF steel has reached a new low. In addition, as China's steel production accounts for 36.4% of the world's total steel production, the decline in the proportion of EAF steel also affects the proportion of EAF steel in the world.
