Investment casting in induction smelting furnace (2)

Time:2021-02-26   Nums:3044

Investment casting has been developed in China since 1950s. Especially in recent years, with the development of economy and technology, investment casting has been widely used in aviation, shipbuilding, machinery, electrical appliances, instruments, vehicles, handicrafts and other manufacturing industries. With investment casting process, we can produce many kinds of castings, such as carbon steel, alloy steel, special steel, non-ferrous alloy, etc. the weight of the castings can be from several grams to dozens of kilograms.

The dimensional accuracy of castings produced by investment casting can reach 5 ~ 7 grades, and the accuracy of individual dimensions is higher. The surface roughness of casting can reach ra2.50 (equivalent to ▽ 6), and the surface roughness of some parts can reach Ra0.63 ~ 1.25 (equivalent to ▽ 7 ~ 8), so the machining allowance of casting can be greatly reduced. Some castings have been cast without machining allowance.

Many kinds of castings with complex shapes can be cast by investment casting. The minimum diameter of the hole can be 0.5mm, and the minimum wall thickness of the casting can be up to 0.5mm. In production, several parts or even dozens of parts can be cast together at one time. Therefore, it can improve the production efficiency, improve the utilization rate of metal materials, and has greater production flexibility and strong adaptability.

The castings produced by investment casting have higher quality requirements, so it is difficult to meet the quality requirements of castings perfectly by melting in ordinary furnace. Only by using induction melting furnace and adopting reasonable melting process can the internal quality of alloy be ensured.
