Induction furnace is an electric furnace which uses the induction electric heating effect to make the metal heated and melted.

The AC power supply used in induction furnace includes three types: power frequency (50 or 60 Hz), medium frequency (50-10000 Hz) and high frequency (higher than 10000 Hz).

The main components of induction furnace are inductor, furnace body, power supply, capacitance and control system. Under the action of alternating electromagnetic field in induction furnace, eddy current is produced inside the material and it is heated and melted. Under the stirring of this alternating magnetic field, the composition and temperature of the melt in the furnace are uniform, and the melting temperature can reach 1650 ℃. In addition to melting in the atmosphere, induction furnace can also be melted in vacuum, argon, neon and other protective atmosphere to meet the requirements of special quality.

Induction melting furnace has outstanding advantages in smelting soft magnetic alloy, high resistance alloy, platinum group alloy, heat resistant, corrosion resistant, wear-resistant alloy and pure metal.

Induction furnace is usually divided into two types: coreless induction furnace and coreless induction furnace. The cored induction furnace has core through the inductor and power supply with power frequency power supply. It is mainly used for smelting and heat preservation of various kinds of iron, brass, bronze, zinc and other metals. The electric efficiency is more than 90%. It can use waste furnace material, with low smelting cost and the maximum furnace capacity of 270 tons. The coreless induction furnace has no core through the inductor, which can be divided into power frequency induction furnace, triple frequency induction furnace, generator set induction furnace, intermediate frequency induction furnace and high frequency induction furnace.
